In March of 2017, the largest wildfire in Kansas history swept through the state. Wildfires at the same time wrecked havoc on Colorado, Oklahoma, and Texas. Yet, the perils of America’s farmers and ranchers received little national media attention.
Farmers are not a group to scream and bring attention to their challenges. Slowly, however, word began to get out on social media. Efforts sprung up across the country to reach out to our colleagues in agriculture.
Our group is comprised of an assortment of farmers from across the Buckeye State. To date, we’ve arranged almost 50 truckloads of hay and supplies to benefit Kansas. In addition, 24 of us will be staying for multiple days to build fence and to assist with cleanup efforts.
